Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer is designed to bring faded plastic, vinyl, and rubber trim back to life—delivering a deep black finish and long-lasting UV protection. But if your vehicle’s trim is heavily oxidized, some extra prep work can make a big difference in how well the product bonds and performs over time.
Here’s our step-by-step guide to achieving the best results with Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer—especially on older or weathered vehicles.
Step 1: Deep-Clean the Trim
For heavily oxidized trim, the first step is to remove built-up grime and oxidation so the restorer can bond effectively.
Use a citrus-based cleaner such as:
• Meguiar’s Citrus Power Cleaner Plus (DRTU10732)
• Meguiar’s Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Cleaner (G180224)
Scrub thoroughly using a toothbrush or medium-stiff detailing brush to remove oxidation, dirt, and any old dressings.
Tip: If the trim is partially painted, apply a small amount of Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound to gently lift the oxidation, then clean again using one of the above cleaners.
Step 2: Let the Trim Dry Completely
Moisture can prevent proper bonding. Once cleaned, allow the trim to dry completely before applying any product.
Step 3: Apply 2–3 Thin Coats
Apply thin, even coats of Hybrid Ceramic Trim Restorer, allowing 15–20 minutes between coats. Wipe away any excess.
For best results, keep the trim completely dry for 24 hours after the final coat to ensure full bonding and durability.
Step 4: Maintain the Finish
To build up protection and deepen the finish:
• Reapply monthly (or after every wash) for the first 3–6 months
• Once you’re happy with the look, top up every 2–3 months or as needed
This ongoing care will help maintain the restored appearance and prolong the life of the treatment—especially if your vehicle is parked outdoors.
